The Afterlife – Hell
Introduction to the concept of Hell
The Event
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 88:1

When the inevitable event unfolds, 56:1

On that Day, the Event will occur. 69:15

The sky will split open, for it will be fragile that Day. 69:16

Surely what you are promised will come to pass. 77:7

Indeed, your Lord’s punishment is bound to come. 52:7

The Inevitable Reality. 69:1

What is the Inevitable Reality? 69:2

And what can make you grasp what the Inevitable Reality is? 69:3

None can avert it. 52:8

And the angels will be on its edges, and eight will bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 69:17

Yet if you say, “You will be resurrected after death,” the disbelievers will say, “This is nothing but sorcery.” 11:7

Knowing
Rivalry in worldly gain has distracted you, 102:1

Until you visit the graves. 102:2

No! Soon you will know. 102:3

Again, no! Soon you will know. 102:4

If only you knew with certainty! 102:5

You will surely see the blazing fire. 102:6

Then you will see it with absolute certainty. 102:7

Then, on that Day, you will be questioned about your pleasures. 102:8

Striking Calamity
The Striking Calamity! 101:1

What is the Striking Calamity? 101:2

And what will make you understand the Striking Calamity? 101:3

On that Day, people will be like scattered moths, 101:4

And the mountains will be like fluffed-up wool. 101:5

Signs of End Times
When the stars are extinguished, 77:8

And the stars lose their brilliance, 81:2, 82:2

And the sky is torn apart, 77:9, 82:1, 84:1

And the sky is stripped away, 81:11

And listens to its Lord, as it must. 84:2, 84:5

When the sun is wrapped up in darkness, 81:1

And the seas boil over, 81:6

And the seas burst forth, 82:3

The earth trembles with a mighty quake, 56:4

When the earth is shaken with its final tremor, 99:1

And casts out its burdens, 99:2

And when the earth is stretched wide, 84:3

And casts out all within it, becoming empty. 84:4

And man cries, “What is happening to it?” 99:3

And the pregnant camels are abandoned, 81:4

And the wild beasts are gathered together, 81:5

And the Fire blazes fiercely, 81:12

And Paradise is brought near 81:13

And the souls are paired, 81:7

And the buried infant is asked 81:8

For what crime was she slain? 81:9

And the records are laid open, 81:10

And the graves are overturned 82:4

Then every soul will know what it has brought forth. 81:14, 82:5

On that Day, it will recount its news, 99:4

For your Lord will have commanded it. 99:5

O human, you are striving toward your Lord. A journey you will inevitably complete. 84:6

The Day
Warn them of the Day when hearts will tremble in throats, choking them. 40:18

On the Day when the earth is replaced with another earth, and the heavens too, all will stand before Allah. 14:48

On the Day the sky sways with a dreadful shaking, 52:9

On the Day We roll up the heavens like a scroll of writings as We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. That is a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We always fulfil. 21:104

And on the Day We gather from every nation a group of those who denied Our signs, they will be driven in ranks. 27:83, 41:19

They will be presented before your Lord in rows: “You have come to Us as We created you the first time, though you claimed We would not set a time for this.” 18:48

On the Day when secrets are laid bare, 86:9

On that Day, He will call them and say, “What answer did you give to the messengers?” 28:65

But all knowledge will be obscured from them that Day, and they will not ask one another. 28:66

On the Day He gathers them, it will seem as if they had stayed in the world only an hour, recognizing one another. Those who deny the meeting with Allah will be lost. 10:45

When humanity is gathered, they (false gods) will be enemies to them (those who invoked them) and will reject their worship. 46:6
"O my people, I fear for you the Day of Calling." 40:32

And listen, the Day the caller will call from a nearby place, 50:41

On the Day when the sky will be like molten brass, 70:8

No close friend will ask about a friend, 70:10

On the Day they see it, it will seem as if they had stayed only an evening or a morning. 79:46

How clearly they will hear and see on the Day they come to Us! But today, they are in clear error. 19:38

Day of Judgement
And what will make you understand what the Day of Judgment is? 82:17

Again, what will make you grasp what the Day of Judgment is? 82:18

It is the Day when no soul can help another, for on that Day, all command belongs to Allah alone. 82:19

Who reject the Day of Judgment, 83:11

No! But you deny the truth of judgment. 74:46, 82:9

So, what makes you deny the Judgment? 95:7

None denies it except the sinful transgressor. 83:12

Have you seen the one who denies the Judgment? 107:1

That is the one who repels the orphan, 107:2

And does not urge feeding the poor. 107:3

So, woe to those who pray, 107:4

Yet are heedless of their prayers, 107:5

Who only show off, 107:6

And withhold even the simplest kindness. 107:7

Burning in it on the Day of Judgment, 82:15, 83:16

Day of Resurrection
Does the human being think We will not reassemble his bones? 75:3

Yes indeed, we are able even to restore his very fingertips. 75:4

But the human wants to keep sinning ahead of him. 75:5

He asks, “When is the Day of Resurrection?” 75:6

When vision is dazed, 75:7

And the moon is eclipsed, 75:8

And the sun and moon are fused 75:9

On that Day, the human will cry, “Where can I escape?” 75:10

No! There is no refuge. 75:11

To your Lord, that Day, is the final return. 75:12

That Day, the human will be told what he sent ahead and what he left behind. 75:13

He will testify against himself. 75:14

Even if he offers excuses, 75:15

The Approaching Day
This is a warning like the earlier warnings. 53:56

The approaching Hour draws near 53:57

None besides Allah can unveil it. 53:58

Do you then marvel at this message, 53:59

And laugh, but do not weep, 53:60

While you are heedless in your play? 53:61

The Hour
On the Day the Hour arrives, people will be divided. 30:14

And on the Day the Hour is established, the falsifiers will be in utter loss. 45:27

On the Day the Hour arrives, the guilty will swear they stayed only a short while. Thus, were they deluded. 30:55

On the Day the Hour arrives, the guilty will despair. 30:12

They ask you about the Hour, “When will it come?” 79:42

People ask you about the Hour, say, “Its knowledge is with Allah alone.” You do not know, perhaps it is near. 33:63

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split. 54:1

The disbelievers say, “The Hour will never come.” Say: “By my Lord, it will surely come! the Knower of the unseen. Not even a speck escapes Him, in the heavens or the earth, nothing smaller or greater, but it is recorded in a clear Book.” 34:3

The arrogant will say, “Did we force you away from guidance after it came to you? No, you were guilty yourselves.” 34:32

They say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 34:29

Say: “You have an appointed day that you cannot delay or hasten by even a moment.” 34:30

But what knowledge do you have of it? 79:43

To Him alone belongs knowledge of the Hour. 41:47

He alone knows the Hour, and to Him you will return. 43:85

Its final knowledge rests with your Lord. 79:44

The coming of the Hour is but a blink of an eye or even closer. 16:77

Allah begins creation, then repeats it. Then to Him you will be returned. 30:11

The Hour is coming, so bear with gracious patience. 15:85

The Mountains
On the Day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains will become a heap of shifting sand. 73:14

The mountains crumble 56:5

into scattered dust. 56:6

And the mountains are blown away, 77:10

And the earth and mountains are lifted and crushed with one blow, 69:14

When the earth is crushed completely 89:21

And the mountains drift like scattered dust 52:10

It humbles some and elevates others. 56:3

You will be divided into three groups 56:7

And the mountains like tufts of wool, 70:9

And the mountains are set in motion, 81:3

You see the mountains, thinking they are solid, but they will pass like clouds, the work of Allah, who perfects all things. 27:88

On the Day We set the mountains in motion and you see the earth laid bare, We will gather them, leaving none behind. 18:47

The mountains set in motion, becoming a mirage. 78:20

The Trumpet
And on the Day the Trumpet is blown, all in the heavens and the earth will be struck with terror, except those whom Allah wills. And all will come before Him in humility. 27:87

The trumpet will be blown, and all in the heavens and the earth will fall unconscious, except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and they will rise, looking on. 39:68

Then, when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 69:13

On the Day when the earth trembles, 79:6

And is followed by another tremor, 79:7

The Day they will hear the blast in truth, that is the Day of Emergence. 50:42

The Day the trumpet is blown, and you come forth in crowds, 78:18

And the trumpet will be blown. “This is the Day of Warning.” 50:20

To Him belongs all sovereignty when the Trumpet is sounded. 6:73

Gathered
Allah, there is no god but Him, will surely gather you all on the Day of Judgment, about which there is no doubt. Who is more truthful than Allah? 4:87, 6:12, 45:26

They do not value Allah as He deserves. On the Day of Judgment, the earth will be in His grip, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. 39:67

The Day the earth splits open from them, rushing forth, that is an easy gathering for Us. 50:44

The Day they will emerge from the graves in haste, as if racing toward a target, 70:43

How can you deny Allah when He gave you life after you were nothing? He will cause you to die, then bring you back to life, and to Him you will return. 2:28

On the Day when Allah resurrects them all, they will swear to Him as they swore to you, thinking they are right. But they are truly liars. 58:18

So set your face toward the upright religion before an irreversible Day comes from Allah. On that Day, they will be divided. 30:43

On the Day He gathers them and what they worshipped besides Allah, He will say, “Did you mislead My servants, or did they stray on their own?” 25:17

Warn those who fear being gathered before their Lord. 6:51

Those who are dragged into Hell on their faces, these are in the worst position and furthest astray. 25:34

This is the Day of Decision. We have gathered you and the ancients. 77:38

So, if you have a plan, try it against Me. 77:39

On the Day when Allah’s enemies are gathered into the Fire, driven forward in ranks. 41:19

Say, “Yes, the first and the last people, 56:49

Will be gathered on a known day.” 56:50

And fear Allah, to Him you will be gathered. 2:203, 6:72, 58:9

Say, “He is the One who scattered you across the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.” 67:24

Say to the disbelievers: ‘You will be defeated and gathered into Hell'. 3:12, 8:36

Whether you die or are killed, you will all return to Allah. 3:158

and to Him you will be gathered. 8:24, 23:79

Judgement
Judgement Day
And the messengers are gathered at their appointed time. 77:11

To which day is all this deferred? 77:12

To the Day of Judgement. 77:13

And what will make you grasp what the Day of Decision is? 77:14

Truly, the Day of Judgement is appointed. 78:17

And the stupor of death comes in truth, “This is what you were trying to avoid.” 50:19

Every soul will come forth with a driver and a witness. 50:21

“You were heedless of this, but now We have lifted your veil, and your sight today is sharp.” 50:22

The sky flung open, becoming gateways, 78:19

Indeed, Hell lies in ambush. 78:21

A home for the transgressors. 78:22

You will see every community kneeling, every nation summoned to its record: “Today you are repaid for what you used to do.” 45:28

This is Our Book, it speaks against you in truth. We used to record all that you did. 45:29

But step aside today, you who were steeped in guilt. 36:59

So, on that Day, they will all share in the punishment. 37:33

This is Hell, which the guilty denied. 55:43

This is how We deal with the guilty. 37:34

Judge
When all will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 83:6

Allah will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection regarding what you used to differ about. 16:124, 22:69, 60:3

He punishes whom He wills and forgives whom He wills 5:40

Be mindful of the day when you will return to Allah, and every soul will be repaid in full for what it has done, none will be wronged. 2:281, 3:25

Then, We will extract from every group those most defiant against the Most Merciful. 19:69

We have decreed death among you, and none can outrun Our will. 56:60

We could replace you with others, transforming you into what you do not know. 56:61

And We know best who deserves to burn in it. 19:70

And every one of you will pass over it; this is a decree from your Lord. 19:71

My word cannot be changed, and I do not wrong the servants.” 50:29

Then We will save those who were mindful and leave the wrongdoers there, on their knees. 19:72

Payment
On that Day, Allah will give them their full due. 24:25, 78:26

And for those who did wrong, there is a punishment besides that, but most of them do not know. 52:47

Ruin awaits the disbelievers, and He will nullify their deeds. 47:8

He finds Allah there, who settles his account. 24:39

They did not expect to be held accountable, 78:27

Signs of the End Times
Horrified
By your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils, then We will bring them around Hell, kneeling, their eyes darkened with fear. 19:68, 20:102

You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they have earned, and it will inevitably befall them. 42:22

And the true promise draws near, then the disbelievers will stare in horror, saying, “Woe to us! We were heedless of this!” 21:97

He only delays them until a Day when eyes will stare in horror. 14:42

Rushing forward, heads raised, unable to blink, hearts empty with dread. 14:43

Hearts that Day will be shaken, 79:8

Their eyes cast down. 79:9

On that Day, every nursing mother will abandon her infant, every pregnant woman will miscarry, and people will appear intoxicated, though not by drink, but overwhelmed by Allah’s severe punishment. 22:2

They will whisper among themselves, “You only remained for ten days.” 20:103

We know best what they say, when the most reasonable among them will say, “You only stayed for a day.” 20:104

Black and White Faces
On the Day of Judgment, you will see those who lied against Allah with faces darkened. Is Hell not the proper place for the arrogant? 39:60

But whoever comes with evil, their faces will be cast into the Fire. “Are you not repaid except for what you used to do?” 27:90, 28:84, 33:66, 37:39

Scorching the skin. 74:29

Those who reject Our signs will be cast into a fire, where their skins will be replaced so they may taste the torment again. 4:56

On the Day when faces will be bright or dark, those whose faces darken will be told, ‘Did you disbelieve after believing? Taste the punishment for your denial.’ 3:106

Faces that Day will be downcast, 88:2

And faces that Day will be clouded. 80:40

Covered in gloom. 80:41

Their faces will seem darkened, as if covered by night. 10:27

Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 80:42

Body Parts Bear Witness
This is a Day when they will not speak, 77:35

Nor will they be allowed to offer excuses. 77:36

Today, We will seal their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify to what they used to do. 36:65

On the Day when their tongues, hands, and feet will testify against them for what they used to do. 24:24

Until, when they reach it, their hearing, sight, and skins will testify against them for what they used to do. 41:20

They will say to their skins, “Why do you testify against us?” They will reply, “Allah, who made all things speak, has made us speak. He created you the first time, and to Him you will return.” 41:21

You did not conceal yourselves from your hearing, sight, or skins, lest they testify against you. But you assumed that Allah was unaware of much of what you did. 41:22

When that Day arrives, no soul will speak except by His permission. Some will be wretched, others blessed. 11:105

Disputing
On the Day when every soul will plead for itself, and every soul will be repaid in full for what it did, and none will be wronged. 16:111

As for those who argue about Allah after He has been acknowledged, their argument is baseless with their Lord. Upon them is wrath. 42:16

Among people are those who argue about Allah without knowledge, blindly following every rebellious devil. 22:3

Yet some still argue about Allah without knowledge, guidance, or an illuminating scripture, 22:8

Turning arrogantly away to mislead others from Allah’s path. 22:9

That is for what your hands have sent ahead. 22:10

This is what you used to doubt.” 44:50

He will say, “Do not dispute before Me, I had already sent the warning. 50:28

Procedure for Judgement
Record of deeds
No! The record of the wicked is in Sijjin 83:7

And what will make you understand Sijjin? 83:8

A book inscribed. 83:9

That is inscribed in the Record. 17:58

For every person, We have tied his fate to his own neck. And on the Day of Resurrection, We will bring forth a record that he will find spread open. 17:13

No! We will record what he says. 19:79

“Read your book, today, you are sufficient to judge yourself.” 17:14

On the Day We summon every people with their leader, those given their record in their right hand will read it with joy. No soul shall be wronged, not even by the weight of a thread within a date stone. 17:71

But the one given his record behind his back, 84:10

Will cry out for destruction, 84:11

It is He who gathers you in sleep and knows what you have done throughout the day. Then He awakens you, so that the appointed term may be fulfilled. In the end, to Him is your return, and He will inform you of all that you used to do. 6:60

Scales
On the Day when every soul finds the good it has done present before it, and the evil it has committed, it will wish there were a great distance between itself and its sins. Allah warns you about Himself. 3:30

We will set up the scales of justice on the Day of Judgment, and no soul will be wronged. Even the weight of a mustard seed will be accounted for. 21:47

The scales on that Day will be just, those whose deeds weigh heavily will be the successful. 7:8

But those whose scales are light will have lost themselves, for they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 7:9, 23:103, 101:8

His home will be the abyss. 101:9

Allah will call you to account for it. 2:284

Reasons for Hell
Other Religions
They say, ‘The Fire will only touch us for a few days.’ But they deceive themselves in their own beliefs. 3:24

He nearly led us away from our gods, had we not been steadfast.” But soon they will know, when they see the punishment, who is furthest astray. 25:42

Or do they have partners who have legislated for them a faith that Allah did not permit? Had it not been for the decisive word, judgment would have been passed between them. 42:21

They have taken gods besides Allah to give them honour. 19:81

But no! They will reject their worship and become their opponents. 19:82

If these were truly gods, they would not enter it, but all will abide therein. 21:99

"But you may worship whatever you wish besides Him." Say, "The true losers are those who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. That is the ultimate loss." 39:15

Whoever seeks a way other than submission to Allah it will never be accepted from them. 3:85

Deny Muhammad
A messenger came to them with clear signs, but they rejected him, so punishment seized them while they were wrongdoers. 16:113

Those who oppose Allah and His Messenger will be humbled, just as those before them were. We have sent down clear revelations. 58:5, 58:20, 59:4

But whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits will be cast into a fire. 4:14, 48:13

When it was said to them, “There is no god but Allah,” they grew arrogant. 37:35

But whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has been made clear and follows a path other than that of the believers, We will leave them to their chosen path and cast them into Hell, what a miserable destination! 4:115, 8:13, 47:32

That is because they followed what angers Allah and hated what pleases Him, so He nullified their deeds. 47:28

If they deny you, say, “Your Lord is vast in mercy, but His punishment cannot be repelled from the guilty.” 6:147

And said, “Shall we abandon our gods for a mad poet?” 37:36

They found their forefathers astray. 37:69

And they rushed to follow in their footsteps. 37:70

Deny Verses
When Our clear signs are recited to them, you see denial on the faces of the disbelievers. They nearly attack those who recite Our verses. Say: “Shall I tell you of something worse than that? 22:72

Their leaders conspired, saying, “Hold fast to your gods; this is a calculated scheme.” 38:6

“We have never heard such claims in our forefathers’ faith; this is mere fabrication.” 38:7

“Was revelation given to him alone, out of all of us?” They doubt My warning, yet they have not tasted My punishment. 38:8

It has already been revealed to you in the Book: when you hear Allah’s signs being denied and mocked 4:140, 7:37

And when he learns something of Our signs, he mocks them. 45:9, 45:35

The evil of their deeds will become clear to them, and they will be overwhelmed by what they used to mock. 39:48

But among people are those who purchase idle talk to mislead others from Allah’s path without knowledge, and take it in mockery. 31:6

Allah responded, “I will send it down to you, but whoever disbelieves afterward, I will punish them as none before has been punished.” 5:115

And when Our verses are recited to them, they turn away arrogantly, as if they did not hear, as if their ears were deaf. 31:7, 45:8

But as for those who disbelieved: “Were My signs not recited to you? Yet you acted arrogantly and became a guilty people.” 23:105, 45:31

Those who reject Our signs and act arrogantly will not enter Paradise, not until a camel passes through the eye of a needle. This is how We repay the guilty. 7:40, 30:16

The guilty will be in confusion and flames. 54:47

Who is more unjust than one who, when reminded of his Lord’s signs, turns away? We will surely take vengeance upon the guilty. 6:157, 18:57, 32:22

The guilty will be recognized by their marks, they will be seized by their forelocks and feet. 55:41

No! If he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 96:15

A lying, sinful forelock! 96:16

My signs were recited to you, but you turned away, 23:66

Those who reject Allah’s signs will not be guided, and for them is a painful punishment. 16:104

But those who strive to undermine Our signs, seeking to defeat them, will be brought into punishment. 34:38

But those who reject Our signs will be seized by punishment for their defiance. 6:49, 20:127

And they rejected Our signs with defiance. 78:28

But We have recorded everything in a book. 78:29

Those who reject Our signs will be cast into a fire 3:19, 4:56, 6:93

His are the keys to the heavens and the earth. Those who disbelieve in His signs are the true losers. 39:63, 45:11, 57:19

But those who strive to defy Our signs, they are the companions of the Blaze. 22:51, 34:5, 64:10

I will punish them as none before has been punished. 5:115

They will have an eternal home, a fitting recompense for their rejection of Our signs. 41:28

And when the decree falls upon them, We will bring forth a creature from the earth to speak to them, for the people were not certain about Our signs. 27:82

Unless they turn to another topic, otherwise, you will be like them. 4:140

So, leave Me to those who reject this message. We will draw them in gradually, from where they do not know. 68:44

Deny Signs
Those who distort Our signs are not hidden from Us. Is one who is cast into the Fire better, or one who arrives secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do as you will, He sees all that you do. 41:40

Those who deny Allah’s signs and the meeting with Him, they have despaired of My mercy, and for them is a painful punishment. 29:23

Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back to sea, unleash a violent storm upon you, and drown you for your ingratitude? Then you would find no helper against Us. 17:69

But those who reject Our signs, we will gradually lead them to ruin in ways they do not perceive. 7:182

Until they arrive, He will say, “Did you deny My signs without fully understanding them? What was it that you did?” 27:84

Those who reject faith and deny Allah’s signs will be cast into the Fire, where they will remain. 5:10, 5:86, 22:57

He will say, “Just as Our signs came to you and you ignored them, today you are ignored.” 20:126

Other Denial
Whoever rejects faith, his deeds are worthless 2:217, 3:22, 5:5, 5:53, 6:88, 7:139, 7:147, 9:17, 9:69, 11:16, 18:105, 33:19, 39:32, 39:65, 47:9, 47:28, 47:32, 49:2, 58:15

Each rejected the messengers, and so My punishment was justified. 38:14

But whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a miserable life and will be resurrected blind. 20:124

Woe to the deniers
Woe on that Day to the deniers, 52:11, 77:15, 77:28, 77:34, 77:37, 77:40, 77:45, 77:47, 77:49, 83:10

Those who play in falsehood, 52:12

The Day they are shoved into the Fire of Hell with force: 52:13

“This is the Fire you used to deny. 52:14, 83:17

Is this magic? Or do you still not see? 52:15

Deniers End
Do you see how he denies and turns away? 96:13

Does he not know that Allah sees? 96:14

So, We took vengeance upon them, see the fate of those who denied. 43:25

General Disbelief
Say to the disbelievers: ‘You will be defeated and gathered into Hell'. 3:12, 8:36

We did not create the heavens, the earth, and all between them in vain; this is the assumption of those who deny the truth. 38:27

But those who do not believe in the Hereafter are swerving from the path. 17:10, 23:74

“Has he fabricated a lie about Allah, or is he possessed?” No! Those who deny the Hereafter are in error and far astray. 34:8

Even if We had mercy on them and removed their hardship, they would still persist in their rebellion, wandering blindly. 23:75

We seized them with punishment, yet they did not humble themselves to their Lord, nor did they plead. 23:76

Until We open for them a gate of severe punishment, then they will be filled with despair. 23:77

Whoever disbelieves in Allah after having believed will face Allah’s wrath 16:106

Disbelief after Belief
Indeed, those who disbelieve after having believed, then increase in disbelief, their repentance will never be accepted, and they are truly lost. 3:90, 16:106

How will Allah guide those who disbelieved after believing, having witnessed the truth and received clear signs? 3:86

Those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe again, then disbelieve once more, Allah will not forgive them nor guide them. 4:137

Allah forgives what is past, but whoever repeats will face His justice. 5:95

Perhaps your Lord will have mercy on you. But if you return to corruption, We will return to punishment. 17:8

And whoever turns away from their faith and dies in disbelief, their deeds will be worthless in this world and the Hereafter. They will be companions of the Fire. 2:217, 3:22, 4:18, 18:105, 47:34

We will turn to what they did and make it like scattered dust. 25:23

We will give them no weight on the Day of Judgment. 18:105

except one forced while his heart remains firm 16:106

Breaking Covenant
But those who break their covenant with Allah, sever what He has commanded to be joined, and spread corruption in the land. 13:25

Inventing Things about Allah
There, every soul will be confronted with what it did, and they will be returned to Allah, their true Master. Their false gods will abandon them. 10:30

They have lost themselves, and what they fabricated has abandoned them. 7:53, 11:21

Only those who lie and deny Allah’s signs fabricate falsehood, and they are the true liars. 16:105

Who is more unjust than one who fabricates lies against Allah? They will be presented before their Lord, and witnesses will say, “These are the ones who lied against their Lord.” 11:18, 29:68

Do not falsely declare, “This is lawful, and this is forbidden,” fabricating lies against Allah. Those who do so will not succeed. 16:116

They say, “These livestock and crops are forbidden, none may eat them except whom we will.” And some livestock they forbid from carrying loads, and others they do not mention Allah’s name over, fabricating lies against Him. He will repay them for their falsehoods. 6:138

Who is more unjust than one who fabricates lies against Allah or claims, “I have received revelation,” when no revelation was given to him? Or one who says, “I will reveal something like what Allah has revealed”? 6:93, 7:37

That assumption of yours about your Lord has led you to ruin, and now you are among the lost. 41:23

Who is more unjust than one who fabricates lies about Allah or denies His signs? 6:21, 6:93, 6:144, 7:37, 10:17, 11:18, 18:15, 29:68, 39:32, 61:7

Exchange Allah
Have you not seen those who exchanged Allah’s favour for disbelief and led their people to ruin? 14:28

Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has revealed in the Book and trade it for a small price consume nothing but fire in their bellies. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them, and they will face a painful punishment. 2:174, 3:77

This is wisdom your Lord has revealed. Do not set up another Allah alongside Him, lest you end up disgraced and forsaken. 17:39

Uff' to Parents
But one who says to his parents, “Ugh! Do you promise me that I will be resurrected, when generations before me have already passed away? 46:17

Against Believers
There was a group of My servants who used to say, ‘Our Lord, we believe, so forgive us and have mercy on us. You are the best of the merciful.’ 23:109

But you took them in mockery, until they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them. 23:110

He will say, “How many years did you remain on earth?” 23:112

They will say, “We stayed a day, or part of a day, ask those who kept count.” 23:113

He will say, “You stayed only a little, if only you had known. 23:114

Did you think We created you without purpose, and that you would not be returned to Us?” 23:115

But whoever kills a believer intentionally will face Hell, where they will remain. Allah’s wrath and curse are upon them, and a severe punishment awaits. 4:93

When they are told, ‘Fear Allah,’ their arrogance drives them deeper into sin. 2:206

Oppression
Blame is upon those who oppress others and spread corruption unjustly. 42:42

Losers
Yet those who have lost themselves refuse to believe. 6:12, 6:20

Spending
The disbelievers spend their wealth to turn people away from Allah’s path. They will continue to spend it, then regret it, and ultimately be defeated. The disbelievers will be gathered into Hell. 8:36

Those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in Allah’s cause, give them news of a painful punishment. 9:34, 70:18

Those who are stingy and encourage others to be stingy, hiding what Allah has given them. 4:37

Those who withhold charity and deny the Hereafter. 41:7

Do not let their wealth or children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through these in this life, and their souls will depart while they are disbelievers. 9:55, 9:85

Stealing from Orphans
Those who consume the wealth of orphans unjustly are filling their bellies with fire, and they will be cast into a blazing torment. 4:10

This World and the Next
Enjoyment in this world
Know that this worldly life is but play, amusement, adornment, boasting among yourselves, and rivalry in wealth and children. It is like rain that delights the farmer, then dries and withers, turning to dust. In the Hereafter, there is severe punishment or forgiveness and pleasure from Allah. This life is nothing but a fleeting illusion. 29:64, 57:20

Is the one who seeks Allah’s pleasure like the one who incurs His wrath? Their final home is Hell. 3:162

Those who prefer this fleeting life over the Hereafter, who turn others away from Allah’s path and seek to distort it, these are far astray. 14:3

But those who disbelieve, who live only for pleasure and eat like cattle, the Fire will be their home. 47:12

They may enjoy this world briefly, but then they will return to Us 10:70, 16:117

That is because they preferred this worldly life over the Hereafter. 16:107

Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little while 39:8

Those who do not expect to meet Us, who are content with this worldly life and feel secure in it, and those who neglect Our signs. 10:7

And they say, “Our Lord, hasten our fate before the Day of Reckoning!” 38:16

They ask you to hasten the punishment, but Allah never breaks His promise. A day with your Lord is like a thousand years of what you count. 22:47, 29:53, 29:54

Whoever desires this fleeting life, We hasten for him what We will, then consign him to Hell. 17:18

Do you feel secure that He will not cause the land to swallow you or send a storm upon you? 17:68

On the Day when those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire: “You wasted your good things in your worldly life and enjoyed them. So today you are repaid with the punishment of humiliation for your arrogance on earth without right, and for your defiance.” 46:20

Is one whom We promised a good reward, which he will attain, like one whom We granted enjoyment in this life, but who will be brought to judgment on the Day of Resurrection? 28:61

Punished in this World
Those given knowledge will say, “Today, humiliation and ruin are upon the disbelievers.” 16:27

For them is disgrace in this world 2:114, 3:192, 5:41, 9:2, 9:63, 22:9

We will punish them twice, 9:101

Punishment
Allah punishes whom He wills 2:284, 5:40, 9:15, 29:21, 48:14

Indeed, those who persecute believing men and women, and do not repent, for them is the torment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 85:10

To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. He will repay the evildoers for what they’ve done, and reward the doers of good with the best. 53:31

Then they will be hurled into it, they and the misguided, 26:94

So, leave them until they meet their Day, when they will be thunderstruck. 52:45

But if you turn away, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful day.” 11:3

Our punishment cannot be repelled from those who persist in wrongdoing." 12:110

No! We will record what he says and extend his punishment. 19:79

If We had willed, We could have blinded them, then even if they raced for the path, how could they see? 36:66

And if We had willed, We could have frozen them in place, so they could neither move forward nor turn back. 36:67

Whomever We grant long life, We reverse in nature. Will they not reflect? 36:68

Punishment Deferred
Others await Allah’s decree, whether He will punish them or turn to them in mercy. 9:106

We will make them taste a lesser punishment before the greater one, so they may return. 32:21

Punished in this World and the Hereafter
As for those who disbelieve, I will punish them severely in this world and the Hereafter. 3:56, 5:41, 13:34, 24:19

Allah made them taste disgrace in this life, but the punishment of the Hereafter is far worse, if only they knew. 39:26, 68:33

Those who insult Allah and His Messenger are cursed in this life and the next. 33:57

Those who slander chaste, unaware, believing women are cursed in this world and the next. 24:23

And We pursued them with a curse in this world, and on the Day of Judgment, they will be among the despised. 28:42

They were pursued by a curse in this world, and on the Day of Judgment. What a terrible fate! 11:99

Had Allah not decreed exile for them, He would have punished them in this world. And in the Hereafter, they will face the Fire. 59:3

Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter, We shall grant him some of it, but he will have no share in the Hereafter. 42:20

When Hell Will Occur
Time/Hour
They ask you about the Hour, when will it come? Say, “Its knowledge is with my Lord alone. None but Him can reveal its time. It weighs heavily upon the heavens and the earth; it will come suddenly.” They ask as if you are eager to know. Say, “Its knowledge is with Allah alone, but most people do not realize it.” 7:187

And the Hour is coming, no doubt about it, and Allah will raise those in the graves. 22:7

And when it was said, “Allah’s promise is true, and the Hour is coming, no doubt about it,” you said, “We do not know what the Hour is. We think it is only speculation, and we are not convinced.” 45:32

And what will make you realize that the Hour may be near? 42:17

But the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour is more severe and bitter. 54:46

"Do they feel secure that Allah’s overwhelming punishment will not come upon them, or that the Hour will not strike suddenly while they remain unaware?" 12:107, 26:202, 29:53, 39:25, 43:66

If only the disbelievers knew that when the Fire cannot be warded off from their faces or backs. 21:39

But they deny the Hour, and We have prepared for those who deny the Hour a blazing fire. 25:11

The Hour is coming; there is no doubt. But most people do not believe. 40:59

But the disbelievers will remain in doubt until the Hour overtakes them suddenly, or the punishment of a barren Day descends upon them. 22:55

Are they waiting for the Hour to come upon them suddenly? Its signs have already come. But how will they remember when it arrives? 47:18

Burn in it, whether you bear it patiently or not, it is the same. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.” 52:16

Say, “Imagine if His punishment comes by night or day, what part of it will the guilty seek to avoid?” 10:50

For the wrongdoers is a share like the share of those before them, so let them not seek to hasten it. 51:59

Do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 26:204, 37:176

Those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it, while those who believe are apprehensive of it, knowing it to be the truth. Indeed, those who dispute the Hour are lost. 42:18

Will you believe in it only when it happens? Now? Yet you used to demand it impatiently. 10:51

Then they will say, “Can we have a little more time?” 26:203

Woe to the disbelievers on the Day they are promised. 51:60

Punishment Delayed
Had it not been for a prior decree from your Lord, their punishment would have been immediate. 20:129

They say, “O Allah, if this is truly from You, then rain down stones upon us or bring us a painful punishment.” 8:32

But Allah would not punish them while you were among them, nor would He punish them while they sought forgiveness. 8:33

Yet what prevents Him from punishing them now? They hinder others from the Sacred Mosque, though they are not its rightful guardians. Its true guardians are the righteous, but most of them do not know. 8:34

We will indeed lift the torment a little, but you will return to your ways. 44:15

We delay it only for a set time. 11:104

If We delay their punishment for a time, they will say, “What holds it back?” But when it comes, it will not be averted, and what they mocked will surround them. 11:8, 45:33

We had established them in ways We have not established you. We gave them hearing, sight, and hearts. But neither their hearing, nor their sight, nor their hearts availed them at all, since they rejected Allah’s signs. And what they used to mock engulfed them. 46:26

If We grant a person mercy and then withdraw it, they become desperate and ungrateful. 11:9

But if We grant them prosperity after hardship, they say, “Troubles have left me,” and they become boastful and proud. 11:10

Except for those who are patient and do good, these will have forgiveness and a great reward. 10:11

If Allah were to punish people for what they’ve earned, He wouldn’t leave a single creature on earth. But He delays them for a set time. When their time comes. 35:45

Your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful. If He were to punish them immediately for their deeds, He would hasten their doom. But He has set an appointed time, from which they will find no escape. 18:58

If Allah were to punish people for their wrongdoing immediately, He would not leave a single creature on earth. But He grants them respite until their appointed time. When their time comes, they cannot delay it nor hasten it. 16:61

Warn people of the Day when punishment will come upon them, and the wrongdoers will plead, “Our Lord, grant us a brief delay so we may respond to Your call and follow the messengers.” But it will be said, “Did you not swear before that you would never perish?” 14:44

Each of them wishes to live a thousand years, but even a long life will not save them from punishment. 2:96

Hell
Hellfire
Whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger will face the Fire, to remain in it forever. 72:23

But in the Hereafter, they will have nothing but the Fire. Their deeds will be worthless, and their efforts will be in vain. 11:16

But those who are too arrogant to worship Me will enter Hell in humiliation." 40:60

Their destination is Hell 8:16, 9:73, 9:95, 66:9, 79:39

Then they will return to the Fire. 37:68, 81:14

And the Fire blazes fiercely, 81:12, 84:12

And Hell is laid bare for all to see. 79:36

You will surely see the blazing fire. 102:6

When it sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and roaring. 25:12

Then you will see it with absolute certainty. 102:7

This is the Hell you were warned about. 36:63

Burn in it today for what you used to deny. 36:64

Hell
But when the great catastrophe arrives, 79:34

On the Day when the human remembers what he strove for, 79:35

Then for the one who transgressed, 79:37

Who preferred the fleeting life. 79:38

Their recompense is Hell, for they denied and mocked My signs and messengers. 18:106

“And surely Hell is the promised place for them all.” 15:43, 39:32

We have made Hell a prison for the disbelievers. 17:8

“Cast into Hell every stubborn disbeliever, 50:24

A withholder of good, a transgressor, a doubter, 50:25

Who set up another Allah beside Allah, so cast him into the severe punishment.” 50:26

And when they are thrown into it, into a tight space, shackled, they will plead for death. 25:13

“Do not plead for one death today, plead for many deaths.” 25:14

Into Hell, where they will burn, a wretched destination. 14:29, 17:18, 38:56, 38:59, 56:94, 58:8, 59:3

The arrogant will say, "We are all in it, Allah has judged between His servants." 40:48

This is the absolute truth. 56:95

Hell will surely engulf the disbelievers. 9:49

Hell will be enough for them 2:206, 4:55, 9:68, 58:8

Gates of Hell
The disbelievers will be driven to Hell in groups. When they reach it, its gates will open, and its keepers will say, "Did messengers not come to you, reciting your Lord’s revelations and warning you of this Day?" They will reply, "Yes, but the decree of punishment has come to pass." 39:71

They will be told, "Enter the gates of Hell. 39:72

“It has seven gates, and each gate has its assigned portion.” 15:44

So enter the gates of Hell 16:29, 40:76

Hell's Tree (zaqqum)
Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 37:62, 44:43, 56:52

This is their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56:56

Consider the fire you kindle, 56:71

Is it you who bring forth its tree, or is it We who make it grow? 56:72

We made it a reminder and a provision for travellers. 56:73

We made it a trial for the wrongdoers. 37:63

Who will face a humiliating punishment? 39:40

It is a tree that grows from the depths of Hell, 37:64

Its fruit like the heads of devils. 37:65

They will eat from it and fill their bellies. 37:66, 44:44, 44:45, 56:52, 56:53

Smoke
“Proceed now to what you used to deny!” 77:29

“Proceed to a shadow of three branches, 77:30

That offers no shade and shields not from the flame.” 77:31

It hurls sparks like castles, 77:32

As if they were yellow camels. 77:33

Fire and Smoke
A blaze of fire and molten brass will be unleashed upon you, and you will not escape. 55:35

Covered in dense, suffocating smoke 56:43

Fire
Fire
On the Day they are tormented by the Fire. 51:13
And to Us belong the first and the last. 92:13

So, I warn you of a blazing fire, 92:14

Say, “Enjoy yourselves for a while, for your final home is the Fire.” 14:30

Then into the Fire, where they will be burned. 40:72, 73:12

For them is the torment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 85:10

Which none will enter except the most wretched, 92:15

Who denied and turned away. 92:16

The one who will burn in the greatest fire, 87:12

And what will make you understand what it is? 101:10

Weary from toil, 88:3

Burning in a scorching fire, 88:4, 101:11

Indeed, it is one of the greatest signs, 74:35

A warning to humanity. 74:36

Saqar
On the Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces, “Taste the touch of Hell.” 54:48

I will cast him into Saqar. 4:30, 74:26

And what will make you understand what Saqar is? 74:27

It spares nothing and leaves nothing, 74:28

“What led you into Saqar?” 74:42

They will say, “We were not among those who prayed, 74:43

Nor did we feed the poor. 74:44

We used to indulge in vain talk with those who did, 74:45

And we denied the Day of Judgment, 74:46

Until certainty came upon us.” 74:47

Humbled
You will see them exposed to the Fire, humbled in disgrace, looking with hidden regret. 42:45

But those who commit evil, their recompense will be equal to their deeds. Humiliation will cover them 10:27

With eyes downcast, humiliation covering them. That is the Day they were promised. 70:44

Therein they will wail, but they will not be heard. 21:100

Recompensed
They will be repaid for what they do. 7:180

Vile are the deeds they persist in.” 58:15

That is the reward for Allah’s enemies, the Fire 41:28

But truly, the Fire awaits them, and they will be driven into it. 16:62

It will be said, “Today We forget you, as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours. 45:34

The People of Pharaoh
They will be exposed to the Fire morning and evening, and on the Day of Judgment, it will be said, "Enter Pharaoh’s people into the severest punishment." 40:46

Refuge of Fire
The fate of the disbelievers is the Fire. 13:35

Their final refuge is the Fire 3:151, 3:197, 4:97, 4:121, 10:8, 13:18, 14:21, 17:97, 24:57, 29:25, 32:20, 45:34, 57:15

The guilty will see the Fire and realize they are about to fall into it, but they will find no escape. 18:53

Prepared Fire
Those who deny it will face the Fire. Do not doubt it, it is the truth from your Lord, though most people do not believe. 11:17

We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls will enclose them. 18:29

Beware of the Fire, whose fuel is people and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. 2:24, 3:131

Companions of the Fire
They (polytheists) call you toward the Fire 2:221

Those who reject faith and die as disbelievers, no amount of gold, even if offered as ransom, will save them. 3:91

Those who reject faith, if they possessed all the wealth of the earth and twice as much to ransom themselves from punishment on the Day of Judgment, it would not be accepted. A painful torment awaits them. 5:36

But those who persist in consuming interest will be companions of the Fire 2:275

But those who reject Our signs and act arrogantly, they will be companions of the Fire. 7:36

Thus, the decree of your Lord was fulfilled against the disbelievers, that they are destined for the Fire. 40:6

They are the companions of the Fire 2:39, 2:81, 2:217, 2:257, 2:275, 3:116, 5:29, 7:36, 7:47, 9:113, 10:27, 13:5, 39:8, 40:6, 40:43, 57:19, 58:17, 64:10, 67:10, 67:11

You will not be held accountable for those who choose the path of the Fire. 2:119

The people of Paradise will call to the people of Hell, saying, “We have found our Lord’s promise to be true, have you found yours to be true?” They will reply, “Yes.” Then a caller will proclaim, “May Allah’s curse be upon the wrongdoers, 7:44

And when their gaze turns toward the people of Hell, they will say, “Our Lord, do not place us among the wrongdoers.” 7:47

The people of Hell will call to the people of Paradise, saying, “Pour some water over us, or anything Allah has provided you.” They will reply, “Allah has forbidden both to the disbelievers. 7:50

Is one who will face the torment on the Day of Judgment like one who is safe? 39:24

The people of the Fire and the people of Paradise are not equal. 59:20

Fuel for the Fire
Beware of the Fire, whose fuel is people and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. 2:24

O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones. Over it are stern and mighty angels. 66:6

They will be fuel for the Fire. 3:10

“Indeed, you and what you worship besides Allah are fuel for Hell, you will enter it.” 21:98, 72:15
We will cast them into the Fire. That is easy for Allah. 4:30, 4:169

Specific Tortures
Seared Skin
On the Day it (hoarded Gold and Silver) is heated in Hellfire, and their foreheads, sides, and backs are branded with it, they will be told, “This is what you hoarded for yourselves, taste what you hoarded!” 9:35

Seared Faces
The Fire will scorch their faces, and they will grimace in agony. 23:104

Striking Faces
If only you could see when the angels take the souls of the disbelievers, striking their faces and backs, saying, “Taste the punishment of the Fire.” 8:50

And for them are iron rods to strike with. 22:21

“This is for what your hands have done, Allah is never unjust to His servants.” 8:51

And faces that Day will be downcast, 75:24

Knowing that a crushing blow is coming. 75:25

Roasted Skin
Those who reject Our signs will be cast into a fire, where their skins will be replaced so they may taste the torment again. 4:56

Fire Clothes
For the disbelievers, garments of fire will be tailored, 22:19

Their garments will be of molten pitch, and fire will cover their faces. 14:50

So that Allah may repay each soul for what it earned. 14:51

Fire Duvet
For them is Hell, with beds and coverings of fire. This is how We repay the wrongdoers. 7:41

Surrounded
They will have layers of Fire above them and layers beneath them. That is how Allah warns His servants: "O My servants, be mindful of Me!" 29:55, 39:16

We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls will enclose them. 18:29

Enclosed in a fire that surrounds them 90:20

Unable to Die
But those who disbelieve will have the Fire of Hell. It will not finish them so they die, nor will its torment be lightened. That is how We repay every ungrateful one. 35:36

Death will come at him from every direction, yet he will not die. Beyond this, there is even harsher torment. 14:17

Scalding Drink
“So, leave those who treat their faith as idle play and distraction. For them, a scalding drink and a torment most bitter, for they denied the truth.” 6:70, 10:4

And drive the wrongdoers to Hell, thirsty, 19:86

But if one is among the deniers, the misguided, 56:92

Then a welcome of scalding water, 56:93

And burning in the fire. 56:94

Tasting neither coolness nor drink, 78:24

Then they will have a boiling drink to wash it down. 37:67, 38:57, 44:46, 56:42

Drinking scalding water, 56:54

Gulping like thirsty camels. 56:55

Is this like the fate of those who dwell forever in the Fire, given boiling water and oozing filth to drink that tears their insides apart? 47:15, 78:25, 88:5

If they cry for relief, they will be given water like molten brass, it will boil in the bellies and scald their faces. What a dreadful drink and a terrible resting place! 18:29, 44:45

When shackles are placed around their necks and chains drag them into boiling water. 40:71, 40:72, 44:47

When they are cast into it, they will hear it roaring as it boils over. 67:7

They will circulate between it and a seething bath. 55:44

Boiling water will be poured over their heads, 22:19, 44:48

So, your Lord unleashed upon them a scourge of punishment. 89:13

Melting their insides and their skins. 22:20

Then a welcome of scalding water, 56:93

Purulent Water and Pus
Beyond him lies Hell, where he will be given putrid water to drink. 14:16, 38:57, 78:25

And another torment of similar severity. 38:58

Nor any food except filth from wounds. 69:36

He will gulp it but struggle to swallow. 14:17, 73:13

None will eat it but the sinners. 69:37

Thorny Plant
Their only food will be bitter thorns, 88:6

Which neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 88:7

Shackles
For the ungrateful, We have prepared chains, shackles, and a blazing fire. 76:4

Seize him and shackle him. 69:30

These are the ones who bear shackles upon their necks 13:5, 34:33, 40:71, 73:12

You will see the guilty bound together in chains. 14:49

Then cast him into the blazing fire. 69:31

Then bind him in a chain seventy cubits long. 69:32

Overwhelming Pain
If only you could see the wrongdoers in the throes of death, as the angels stretch out their hands, saying, “Surrender your souls! 6:93

Violent Breathing
As for the wretched, they will be in the Fire, sighing and gasping. 11:106

Heaped on Top of Each Other
So that Allah may distinguish the wicked from the righteous, piling the wicked together and casting them into Hell. 8:37

Punishment Increased
Those who disbelieved and turned others away from Allah’s path will face multiplied punishment for their corruption. 16:88

We will gather them, dragging them on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf. Their home is Hell, and its flames will grow fiercer. 17:97

It will not be lightened for them, and they will despair within it. 43:75

Their punishment will be multiplied on the Day of Judgment 11:20, 25:69, 78:30

Qualities of Hell
Humiliating
For the disbelievers, there is a humiliating punishment. 2:90, 3:178, 4:14, 4:37, 4:102, 4:151, 6:93, 11:93, 22:57, 25:69, 31:6, 33:57, 34:14, 39:40, 41:17, 45:9, 46:20, 58:5, 58:16

Severe
Know that Allah is severe in punishment 59:7, 65:10, 85:12

Those who stray will face severe punishment for neglecting the Day of Reckoning. 38:26, 65:8

Allah is severe in punishment. 2:165, 2:196, 2:211, 3:4, 3:11, 3:56, 3:105, 3:276, 4:93, 4:173, 5:2, 5:33, 5:98, 6:124, 7:164, 8:13, 8:25, 8:48, 8:52, 8:68, 9:39, 9:74, 9:101, 10:70, 11:102, 12:25, 13:6, 13:13, 13:18, 13:32, 14:2, 14:7, 16:94, 16:106, 17:58, 18:2, 20:71, 20:127, 22:2, 23:77, 24:11, 25:68, 27:21, 31:24, 34:46, 35:7, 25:19, 35:10, 40:3, 40:22, 59:7, 8:13, 10:70, 11:102, 17:58, 18:2, 22:2, 23:77, 40:83, 41:27, 41:43, 42:16, 42:26, 50:26, 54:16, 54:18, 54:21, 54:30, 57:20, 58:15, 59:4, 85:12

Painful
The disbelievers will face a painful punishment. 2:10, 2:104, 2:174, 2:178, 3:21, 3:77, 3:91, 3:177, 3:188, 4:18, 4:138, 4:161, 4:173, 5:36, 5:73, 5:94, 6:70, 7:73, 8:32, 9:3, 9:34, 9:61, 9:74, 9:79, 9:90, 10:4, 10:88, 10:97, 11:48, 11:102, 12:25, 14:22, 15:50, 16:63, 16:104, 16:117, 17:10, 22:25, 24:19, 24:63, 25:37, 26:201, 29:23, 31:7, 33:8, 34:5, 36:18, 37:38, 42:21, 42:42, 43:65, 44:11, 45:8, 46:24, 46:31, 48:16, 48:17, 48:25, 51:37, 58:4, 58:15, 59:15, 61:10, 64:5, 67:28, 71:1, 73:13, 76:31, 84:24

Bad
A great punishment awaits them. 2:7, 9:101, 24:23, 45:10

Wretched is the resting place. 2:206, 13:18, 14:29

What a dreadful fate! 2:126, 2:206, 3:12, 3:151, 3:162, 3:197, 7:165, 8:16, 9:73, 11:98, 16:29, 18:29, 22:72, 24:57, 38:56, 38:60, 39:72, 40:76, 57:15, 58:8, 64:10, 66:9, 67:6

The punishment of your Lord is truly dreadful. 17:57

It was truly the torment of a dreadful day. 26:189

How evil is what your faith commands 2:93

But whoever turns away from their Lord will be cast into an ever-growing torment. 72:17, 74:17

But those who strive to undermine Our signs, seeking to defeat them, those will face a torment of agonizing pain. 34:5, 45:11

Beyond this, there is even harsher torment. 14:17, 41:50

Then he will return to his Lord for an even greater punishment.” 18:87

The quake of the Final Hour is a staggering event. 22:1

I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day.” 26:135, 46:21

How terrible was My punishment! 13:32, 22:44, 34:45, 35:26, 40:5, 65:8, 67:18
What a terrible fate! 4:97, 48:6

What a miserable destination! 4:115, 25:66

We will repay those who turn away with a dreadful punishment. 6:157

They are the ones who will face the worst punishment 27:5

Those who are dragged into Hell on their faces, these are in the worst position and furthest astray. 25:34

For them is a severe reckoning 13:18

for them is the curse, and a miserable abode. 13:25, 40:52

The worst of destinations. 38:55

Proper Place
Is Hell not the proper home for the disbelievers? 29:68

Eternal
They will have lasting torment. 9:68, 11:39, 20:127, 39:40, 42:45

They will wish to escape the Fire, but they will never leave it. Their suffering will be endless. 2:167, 5:37, 6:122

Whenever they try to escape from anguish, they are dragged back and told, “Taste the torment of burning.” 22:22, 32:20

They will remain in that state forever, with no relief from punishment and no hope of reprieve. 2:162, 3:88, 16:85

Who will receive an everlasting torment.” 5:37, 11:39

Its punishment is relentless. 25:65

Where he will neither die nor live. 87:13

they will remain forever 2:39, 2:81, 2:162, 2:217, 2:257, 2:275, 3:88, 3:116, 4:14, 4:93, 4:169, 5:37, 5:80, 6:128, 7:36, 9:17, 9:63, 9:68, 10:27, 11:107, 13:5, 16:29, 16:85, 18:3, 20:101, 21:99, 23:103, 32:14, 33:65, 39:72, 40:76, 41:28, 43:74, 47:15, 58:17, 59:17, 64:10, 72:23, 78:23, 82:16, 98:6

Not Eternal
Abiding eternally therein. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved. 3:88

Except those who repent afterward and mend their ways 3:89

Taste
It will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you have earned!" 39:24

We will make them taste the torment of fire. 22:9

That is for what your hands have sent ahead, and Allah is never unjust to His servants. 22:10

“Taste your trial, this is what you sought to hasten.” 51:14

“Taste this! You were the mighty, the noble! 44:49

Taste the punishment for your denial.’ 3:106, 3:181, 6:30, 7:39, 8:14, 8:35, 10:52, 22:22, 29:55, 32:14, 32:20, 34:42, 35:37, 37:31, 37:38, 38:8, 38:57, 46:34, 54:37, 54:39, 78:30

Allah
Allah's Ill
Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves. And when He wills hardship, none can avert it 13:11

Led Astray
Had Allah willed, He could have made you one community, but He leaves some to stray and guides others. 16:93, 42:8

Allah guides whom He wills and leaves others to wander astray. 6:39

Whomever Allah wills to guide, He expands their heart to submission. But whomever He wills to leave astray, He makes their chest tight and constricted, as if they were climbing into the sky. Thus, Allah places defilement upon those who do not believe. 6:125

We assigned them companions who made their past and future deeds seem appealing to them. Thus, the fate of earlier communities, both jinn and humans, was sealed upon them, for they were truly lost. 41:25

On the Day He gathers them all, He will say, “O assembly of jinn! You have misled many among humanity.” 6:128

Whoever Allah leaves astray, none can guide them. He leaves them wandering blindly in their defiance. 1:7, 2:26, 4:88, 4:143, 6:39, 6:125, 7:178, 7:186, 17:97, 42:44, 74:31

But as for those who deny the Hereafter, We have made their deeds seem appealing to them, so they wander blindly. 27:4

They are the ones who will face the worst punishment, and in the Hereafter, they will be the greatest losers. 27:5

They will say, “Our Lord, our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we were a people astray. 23:106

Those who reject Our signs are deaf and blind, lost in darkness. Allah guides whom He wills and leaves others to wander astray. 6:39

Sealed Hearts
Has it not become clear to those who inherit the land after its former people that, if We will, We can strike them for their sins and seal their hearts so they do not hear? 7:100

Among them are those who listen to you, but when they leave, they say to others, “What did he just say?” These are the ones whose hearts Allah has sealed, they follow only their desires. 47:16

This is how We seal the hearts of the disbelievers. 7:101, 10:74, 30:59, 40:35

Have you seen the one who takes his own desire as his Allah? Allah lets him stray knowingly, seals his hearing and heart, and places a veil over his sight. Who then can guide him after Allah? 45:23

Say, “If Allah were to take away your hearing and sight and seal your hearts, who but Allah could restore them?” 6:46

They are the ones whose hearts, hearing, and sight Allah has sealed, and they are the heedless. 16:108

That is because they believed, then disbelieved, so their hearts were sealed, and they cannot understand. 63:3

No! Their hearts are stained by what they have earned. 83:14

No! On that Day, they will be veiled from their Lord, 83:15

Allah has sealed their hearts and ears, and a veil covers their sight 2:7, 4:155, 9:87, 9:93

Their hearts harbour a disease, and Allah increases their affliction. 2:10

Blind
Had We willed, We could have taken away their sight. Then, how would they find their way? 17:72

But whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a miserable life and will be resurrected blind. 20:124

He will say, “My Lord, why have You raised me blind when I once had sight?” 20:125

The example of those who reject faith is like one who calls out to cattle, they hear nothing but sounds and cries. Deaf, dumb, and blind, they do not comprehend. 2:171, 6:39

Allah will Mock
Allah mocks them and lets them wander blindly in their defiance 2:15, 2:18, 6:110, 7:186, 10:11

Allah will mock them in return 2:15, 9:79

Guided
If they believe as you do, they are rightly guided. But if they turn away, they are in opposition. 2:137

Whoever is guided is guided for his own benefit, and whoever goes astray does so to his own loss. 17:15

Seized
Allah seized them for their sins. 40:21

Unforgiven
Whether you seek forgiveness for them or not, even if you ask seventy times, Allah will never forgive them. That is because they rejected Allah and His Messenger. 9:80

Those who disbelieve and persist in wrongdoing, Allah will never forgive them nor guide them to any path, 4:168

Except the path to Hell 4:169

Forgiven
Except for the helpless, men, women, and children, who had no means or guidance to escape. 4:98

For them, Allah may grant pardon. 4:99

Allah's Hatred
The disbelievers will be told, "Allah’s hatred toward you is greater than your hatred toward yourselves, for you were invited to faith, but you refused." 40:10

Allah's Curse
The people of Paradise will call to the people of Hell, saying, “We have found our Lord’s promise to be true, have you found yours to be true?” They will reply, “Yes.” Then a caller will proclaim, “May Allah’s curse be upon the wrongdoers, 7:44

Those who turned others away from His path, seeking to make it crooked, and who denied the Hereafter.” 7:45

Between them is a barrier, and on the heights are people who recognize everyone by their marks. They will call to the people of Paradise, “Peace be upon you!” They have not yet entered, but they long to do so. 7:46

And when their gaze turns toward the people of Hell, they will say, “Our Lord, do not place us among the wrongdoers.” 7:47

The people of the heights will call to men they recognize, saying, “Your wealth and arrogance did not benefit you.” 7:48

“Are these the ones you swore Allah would never show mercy to?” To them, it will be said, “Enter Paradise, no fear, nor shall you grieve.” 7:49

The people of Hell will call to the people of Paradise, saying, “Pour some water over us, or anything Allah has provided you.” They will reply, “Allah has forbidden both to the disbelievers. 7:50

Those who took their religion as amusement and distraction, deceived by worldly life.” Today, We will forget them as they forgot their meeting on this Day and as they rejected Our signs. 7:51

But those who persist in disbelief and die as deniers, upon them is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all of humanity. 2:89, 2:161, 3:87

May Allah’s curse be upon the wrongdoers 7:44, 11:18, 48:6

If anyone argues with you after knowledge has come to you, say, ‘Come, let us gather ourselves and you, our children and your children, our women and your women, then let us sincerely pray and invoke Allah’s curse upon the liars.’ 3:61

Doomed are the makers of the trench, 85:4

The fire fed with fuel, 85:5

As they sat beside it, 85:6

They will be cursed, and they will have the worst home. 13:25, 40:52

Those who insult Allah and His Messenger are cursed in this life and the next, and a humiliating punishment awaits them. 33:57

Allah has cursed them, and they will have lasting torment. 9:68, 33:64

No Intercession
No Intercession
Here you are, defending them in this life, but who will defend them against Allah on the Day of Judgment? Who will stand as their advocate? 4:109

Are they waiting for its fulfilment? On the Day it arrives, those who ignored it will say, “The messengers of our Lord did bring the truth! Are there any intercessors to plead for us? Or can we be sent back to act differently than before?” 7:53

Beware of the Day when no soul can avail another, no intercession will be accepted, no ransom taken, and no help granted. 2:48, 2:123, 2:254

They will have no power of intercession except those who have received permission from the Most Merciful. 19:87

Intercession will be of no benefit except for those whom He permits and whose words He approves. 20:109, 34:23, 74:48

Should I take others as gods besides Him? If the Merciful intends harm for me, their intercession won’t help me at all, nor can they save me. 36:23

On the Day He will say, “Call upon My partners whom you claimed,” they will call upon them, but they will not respond. We will place between them an unbridgeable gulf. 18:52

Those they invoke besides Him have no power of intercession, except those who testify to the truth knowingly. 43:86

How many angels are in the heavens whose intercession is of no use, except after Allah gives permission to whom He wills and approves. 53:26

Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? 2:255

Say, "Intercession belongs entirely to Allah. 39:44

We will surely support Our messengers and the believers in this life and on the Day when the witnesses stand. 40:51

On that Day, the excuses of the wrongdoers will not benefit them. They will be cursed, and they will have the worst home. 30:57, 40:52

Today, none of you can benefit or harm one another. 34:42, 86:10

Supplication
Those in the Fire will cry out to the keepers of Hell, "Pray to your Lord to lighten the torment for us, even for one day!" 40:49

A challenger demanded the punishment bound to fall, 70:1

For the disbelievers, none can repel it. 70:2

The keepers will reply, "Did your messengers not come to you with clear signs?" They will say, "Yes." The keepers will respond, "Then pray yourselves, but the prayers of the disbelievers are in vain." 40:50

They will all stand before Allah, and the weak will say to the arrogant, “We followed you, can you now shield us from Allah’s punishment?” They will reply, “Had Allah guided us, we would have guided you. Now it is all the same, whether we despair or endure. 14:21

No Helper
Had We willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but My decree has come to pass: 32:13, 37:31

But many are also deserving of punishment. Whoever Allah disgraces, none can honour. 22:18

So, what of the one upon whom the sentence of torment is sealed, can you, then, deliver from the flames one already bound to the Fire? 39:19

Those who plead, “Our Lord, turn away from us the torment of Hell 2:201, 25:65

Our Lord, bring us out of this. If we return to our old ways, then we truly are wrongdoers.” 23:107

Until, when We seize the affluent among them with punishment, they cry out in despair. 23:64

“Do not cry out today, you will not be helped by Us.” 23:65

If you follow their desires after knowledge has come to you. 13:37

There is no protector or helper from/besides Allah 2:107, 2:120, 2:270, 3:22, 3:54, 3:56, 3:91, 3:192, 4:52, 4:145, 4:173, 5:72, 6:51, 9:74, 9:116, 10:27, 11:43, 11:113, 13:11, 13:34, 13:37, 17:68, 17:75, 17:86, 17:97, 18:17, 18:26, 21:39, 22:71, 29:22, 32:4, 33:17, 33:65, 35:37, 40:18, 40:21, 40:33, 42:8, 42:44, 45:34, 47:11, 46:32, 48:22, 86:10

Then you would find no protector against Us. 17:86

But it is only by your Lord’s mercy that it remains. 17:87

But those who commit evil, their recompense will be equal to their deeds. Humiliation will cover them, and they will have no protector against Allah. 10:27

The Day their scheming will avail them nothing, and they will not be helped. 52:46

Then you would find no protector. 17:68

Then you would find no helper against Us. 17:69

They will cry, “O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us!” He will say, “You will remain.” 43:77

He will say, “Be cast into it, and do not speak to Me.” 23:108, 27:85

So today they will not be brought out from it, nor will they be allowed to make amends. 45:35

If Allah touches you with hardship, none can remove it but Him. 6:17

Even if they endure, the Fire remains their dwelling. And if they seek reconciliation, they will not be granted it. 41:24

So, watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke, 45:10

I (Satan) cannot help you, nor can you help me. 14:22

No Help from Family
They said, “We have more wealth and children, and we will not be punished.” 34:35

It is not your wealth or children that bring you near to Us 34:37

Those who deny the truth, their wealth and children will not avail them against Allah. 3:10, 45:10, 58:17, 60:3

Though they will be shown to one another, the guilty will wish to ransom himself from the torment of that Day, with his children 70:11

His spouse and his brother, 70:12

His family who sheltered him, 70:13

And everyone on earth, if it could save him. 70:14

The Day when no friend will avail a friend in anything, and they will not be helped, 44:41

But no! It is a blazing fire, 70:15

So today, no ransom will be accepted from you, nor from those who disbelieved. 57:15

Respond to your Lord before the Day arrives, beyond which there is no turning back. You will have no refuge, nor will anyone defend you. 42:47

Burdens
Lost indeed are those who deny the meeting with Allah until the Hour suddenly overtakes them. Then they cry, “Woe to us for neglecting it!” as they bear their burdens on their backs. How terrible is their load! 6:31

The disbelievers say to the believers, “Follow our way, and we will bear your sins.” But they cannot bear any of their sins; they are liars. 29:12

They will carry their own burdens, along with additional burdens. And on the Day of Judgment, they will be questioned about what they fabricated. 29:13

Whoever turns away from it will bear a heavy burden on the Day of Judgment. 20:100

And what a crushing weight it will be for them on the Day of Rising 20:101

Every soul earns only for itself, and no bearer of burdens will carry another’s burden. 6:164, 39:7, 53:38

No soul bears the burden of another. And if a burdened soul cries out for help, no one can carry it, even a close relative. 17:15, 35:18

So let them bear their burdens fully on the Day of Resurrection, along with the burdens of those they misled without knowledge. How terrible is what they carry! 16:25

Beware of the Day when no soul can avail another, no ransom will be accepted, no intercession granted, and no help given. 2:123

Categories of People
Muhammad
Then it will be said to the wrongdoers, “Taste the punishment of eternity. Are you repaid for anything except what you earned?” 10:52

They ask you, “Is it true?” Say, “Yes, by my Lord, it is true, and you cannot escape it.” 10:53

Say, "I fear the punishment of a dreadful Day if I disobey my Lord." 6:15, 39:13

Say: “I advise you of one thing only: stand up for Allah, in pairs or alone, and reflect. Your companion is not mad. 34:46

So be patient, as the messengers of firm resolve were patient. And do not be hasty for them. On the Day they see what they are promised, it will be as if they had not remained but an hour of a day. This is a message. Will any be destroyed except the defiantly ungrateful? 46:35

We have certainly tested you, but had it not been for Our mercy, you would have inclined toward them slightly. 17:74

Had you done so, We would have made you taste double the punishment in life and double after death. 17:75

Have you not seen those who were forbidden secret meetings yet persist in them, whispering about sin, hostility, and defiance of the Messenger? When they approach you, they greet you in a way Allah has not decreed, and they say to themselves, “Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?” 58:8

When Our clear verses are recited to them, those who do not expect to meet Us say, “Bring a different Quran or change it.” Say, “It is not for me to change it on my own. I only follow what is revealed to me. If I disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a dreadful day.” 10:15

They were the ones who disbelieved and barred you from the Sacred Mosque, and prevented the sacrificial animals from reaching their place of offering. Had it not been for believing men and women whom you did not know, lest you unknowingly trample them and become guilty without realizing, it would have been permitted. Allah brings into His mercy whomever He wills. 48:25

Muhammad's Wives
O wives of the Prophet, if any of you commits a clear sin, her punishment will be doubled. 33:30

Believers
These are those who say, ‘Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive our sins and protect us from the torment of the Fire.’ 3:16, 3:191

Rejoicing in what their Lord has granted them. Their Lord shielded them from the torment of the Blaze. 52:18

O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones. Over it are stern and mighty angels who never disobey Allah’s command and do exactly what they are told. 66:6

Whoever is spared on that Day has received His mercy; that is the ultimate triumph. 6:16

But Allah has been gracious to us and shielded us from the scorching wind. 52:27

Hold tightly to the rope of Allah together and do not be divided. Remember His favour upon you, when you were enemies, He united your hearts, making you brothers by His grace. You were on the brink of destruction, and He saved you. 3:103

Surely, in this is a lesson for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is the Day when all people will be gathered, a Day that will be witnessed. 11:103

Unbelievers
But whoever turns away and disbelieves, 88:23

Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 88:24

For those who reject their Lord is the punishment of Hell. 67:6

Those who do not believe in the Hereafter have the worst qualities, while Allah has the highest attributes. 16:60

Instead, the disbelievers reject it. 84:22

But Allah knows what they conceal. 84:23

Those who hoard wealth and refuse to spend in Allah’s cause should not think it is good for them. Rather, it will be a burden around their necks on the Day of Judgment. 3:180

O you who disbelieve, make no excuses today. You are only being repaid for what you used to do. 66:7

Say, “Have you considered whether Allah destroys me and those with me, or shows us mercy, who will protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?” 67:28

Yet when We let him taste mercy after hardship, he says, “This is mine, I do not think the Hour will come. But if I am returned to my Lord, I will surely have the best with Him.” Yet We will inform those who disbelieve of what they did 41:50

They use their oaths as a shield, turning people away from Allah’s path. 58:16

They are like those who came just before them, they tasted the consequences of their actions 59:15, 64:5, 65:9

He thought and calculated, 74:18

May he be ruined for how he calculated! 74:19

Again, may he be ruined for how he calculated! 74:20

Then he looked, 74:21

Then he frowned and scowled, 74:22

Then he turned away in arrogance, 74:23

They will say, "Our Lord, You made us die twice and gave us life twice. Now we confess our sins. Is there any way out?" 40:11

"This is because when Allah alone was called upon, you rejected Him, but when others were associated with Him, you believed. The judgment belongs to Allah." 40:12

Against Muhammad
Do they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger will have the Fire of Hell 9:63

Those who insult the Messenger will face a painful punishment. 9:61, 33:57

The Companions of the Left
But those who reject Our signs, they are the companions of the left, 90:19

Enclosed in a fire that surrounds them 90:20

Those on the left, lost in regret. 56:9, 56:41

But the one who is given his record in his left hand will say, “Oh, I wish I had never received my record!” 69:25

“And never knew what my account was!” 69:26

“Would that it had been the end of me!” 69:27

“My wealth has been of no use to me.” 69:28

“My power has vanished from me.” 69:29

Jews
Allah has heard the words of those who said, ‘Allah is poor while we are rich.’ We will record their words 3:181

This is the result of what your hands have done; Allah is never unjust to His servants. 3:182

The Jews who eagerly listen to lies and to those who never met you. They distort words from their places, saying, “If you are given this ruling, accept it; but if not, beware.” But those whom Allah wills to test, you hold no power over their fate. These are the ones whose hearts Allah does not will to cleanse. For them is disgrace in this life, and in the next, a punishment immense.” 5:41

They are habitual listeners to falsehood, devourers of illicit gain. If they come to you for judgment, you may choose to rule between them or turn away. If you turn away, they cannot harm you. But if you judge, do so with justice. 5:42

Ask the Children of Israel how many clear signs We gave them. Yet whoever trades Allah’s favour for disbelief will find that Allah is severe in punishment. 2:211

Jews and Christians
Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has revealed in the Book and trade it for a small price consume nothing but fire in their bellies. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them. 2:174

But Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding their differences. 2:113

But those who disbelieve among the People of the Book and the idolaters will dwell in the Fire of Hell, remaining there forever. They are the worst of creatures. 98:6

Humiliation is upon them wherever they are found, unless they hold onto a covenant with Allah or a treaty with people. They have earned Allah’s wrath and are burdened with disgrace because they rejected His signs and killed the prophets unjustly. This is because they disobeyed and transgressed. 3:112

Hypocrites
O Messenger! Do not grieve over those who rush into disbelief, whether among those who say, “We believe” with their lips while their hearts remain unchanged, or among the Jews who eagerly listen to lies and to those who never met you. 5:41

Give news to the hypocrites: a painful punishment awaits them. 4:138

Allah has promised the hypocrites and disbelievers the Fire of Hell 9:68

Surely, Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers together in Hell. 4:140

And He will punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the idolaters, men and women, those who harbour evil thoughts about Allah. Upon them is a turn of misfortune. Allah’s wrath is upon them, He has cursed them, and prepared for them Hell, what a miserable destination. 33:73, 48:6

Those who wait for your downfall, if victory comes to you, they claim allegiance; but if the disbelievers succeed, they say, “Did we not side with you?” Allah will judge between you all on the Day of Resurrection, and He will never grant the disbelievers power over the believers. 4:141

On that Day, the hypocrites will say to the believers, “Wait for us, so we may borrow some of your light.” But they will be told, “Go back and seek light elsewhere.” A barrier will be placed between them, with mercy on one side and torment on the other. 57:13

They are like Satan when he says to the human, “Disbelieve,” but when he disbelieves, he says, “I am free of you; I fear Allah.” 59:16

The end of both is that they will be in the Fire, remaining there forever. That is the reward of the wrongdoers. 59:17

Surely, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of Hell, and you will find no helper for them. 4:145

Whoever rejects faith, his deeds are worthless, and in the Hereafter, he will be among the losers. 3:85, 5:5, 7:178, 8:37, 11:22, 16:109

Jinn and Mankind
We have destined many jinn and humans for Hell. They have hearts they do not understand with, eyes they do not see with, and ears they do not hear with. They are like cattle, no, they are even more lost! They are the truly heedless. 7:179

O assembly of jinn and humans! If you can pass beyond the bounds of the heavens and the earth, then pass, but you will not pass except by authority. 55:33

He will say, “Enter the Fire among nations before you, of jinn and humans.” 7:38

The word of your Lord has been fulfilled: “I will surely fill Hell with jinn and humans together.” 11:119, 32:13

On that Day, no human or jinn will be asked about his sins. 55:39

On that Day, We will say to Hell, “Are you full?” And it will say, “Are there more?” 50:30

The Wives of Noah and Lot
Allah sets forth an example for those who disbelieve: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were married to two of Our righteous servants, but they betrayed them. Their husbands could not help them at all before Allah. It was said, “Enter the Fire with those who enter.” 66:10

The Falsifiers
Perish the liars, 51:10

Those lost in heedlessness, drowning in doubt. 51:11

They ask, “When is the Day of Judgment?” 51:12

Abu Lahab and his Wife
Condemned are the hands of Abu Lahab, and he is condemned. 111:1

His wealth and gains will not save him. 111:2

He will burn in a blazing fire, 111:3

And his wife, who carried thorns, 111:4

Around her neck will be a rope of palm fiber. 111:5

Regret Over Disbelief
Self-Inflicted
Whoever disbelieves, his disbelief is against him. 30:44

Allah does not wrong people, but they wrong themselves. 10:44, 43:76

They only destroy their own souls, though they do not realize it. 6:26

Indeed, We have warned you of a punishment near at hand. On the Day a person will see what their hands have sent ahead, and the disbeliever will cry, “Oh, if only I were dust!” 78:40

Avoid both open and hidden sins. Those who commit wrongdoing will be repaid for what they have earned. 6:120

They will call out, “Were we not with you?” The believers will reply, “Yes, but you deceived yourselves, you waited, you doubted, and false hopes deluded you, until Allah’s command arrived. 57:14

And Satan will say when the matter is settled, “Allah gave you a true promise, but I deceived you. I had no authority over you except to invite, and you responded. So do not blame me, blame yourselves. 14:22

So, We seized each of them for their sins, some by storm, some by blast, some by the earth swallowing them, and some by drowning. Allah did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 29:40, 80:33

On that Day, one will flee from his brother. 80:34

And his mother and father. 80:35

And his spouse and children. 80:36

Each person, on that Day, will have enough concern for himself. 80:37

So, they will confess their sins, away with the people of the Blaze. 67:11

If only the wrongdoers could see the punishment awaiting them, they would realize that all power belongs to Allah 2:165

If Only
When those who were followed disown their followers, and all ties between them are severed, 2:166

If only we had another chance, we would be among the believers. 26:102

Surely in this is a sign, but most of them do not believe. 26:103

And those who followed will say, “No, it was your scheming, night and day, commanding us to disbelieve in Allah and set up equals with Him.” They will all hide their regret when they see the punishment. And We will place shackles around the necks of the disbelievers. Will they be repaid for anything but what they used to do? 34:33

The followers will cry, 'If only we had another chance, we would abandon them as they have abandoned us!' Thus does Allah show them their deeds as regrets. 2:167

Or lest you say, “Had the Book been sent to us, we would have been better guided than them.” 6:157

They will cry, “Oh, if only we had obeyed Allah, and obeyed the Messenger!” 33:66

And they will say, “If only we had listened or used our reason, we would not be among the people of the Fire.” 67:10

And Hell is brought forth. On that Day, man will remember, but what good will remembrance do him then? 89:23

He will say, “Oh, if only I had prepared for my life!” 89:24

On that Day, none will punish as He punishes, 89:25

And none will bind as He binds. 89:26

Lest a soul should say, "Woe to me for neglecting Allah’s commands and being among the mockers." 39:54

Or say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous." 39:55
Lest a soul should say, "Woe to me for neglecting Allah’s commands and being among the mockers." 39:56

Or say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous." 39:57

Or say when seeing the punishment, "If only I had another chance, I would be among the doers of good." 39:58

But My signs came to you, and you denied them, turned away in arrogance, and were among the disbelievers. 39:59

Seeing Hell
They will not believe until they see the painful punishment. 26:201

If even a breath of your Lord’s punishment touches them, they will cry, “Woe to us! We were wrongdoers.” 21:46

When they saw Our punishment, they cried, "We believe in Allah alone and reject what we had been associating with Him!" 40:84

But their faith was of no benefit once they witnessed Our punishment. This has always been Allah’s way with His servants; the disbelievers were utterly lost. 40:85

If every wrongdoer possessed all the wealth on earth, they would offer it as ransom. They will hide their regret when they see the punishment. Judgment will be passed with justice, and they will not be wronged. 10:54

On the Day when those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire: “Is this not the truth?” They will say, “Yes, by our Lord.” 46:34

Allah said, “Soon they’ll regret it.” 23:40

Wish to Return
Say, “If the punishment were to come suddenly or openly, would anyone be destroyed except the wrongdoers?” 6:47

Whoever Allah allows to stray will have no protector after Him. You will see the wrongdoers saying, “Is there a way back?” 42:44

If only you could see when they are made to stand before the Fire! They will cry, “If only we could return, we would never deny our Lord’s signs, and we would be believers.” 6:27

Leaders
Those who disbelieve will say, “Our Lord, show us those who led us astray, whether jinn or humans, so we may trample them underfoot and make them the lowest of the low.” 41:29

Here is a crowd rushing in with you, no welcome for them! 38:59

“They will cry out: ‘No! You are the ones unwelcome; you brought this fate upon us. 38:60

And they will say, “Our Lord, we followed our leaders and elders, and they led us astray from the path.” 33:67

“Our Lord, double the punishment for them, and curse them with a mighty curse!” 33:68, 38:61

The Warned
But if only you could see when they stand before their Lord! He will ask, “Is this not the truth?” They will reply, “Yes, by our Lord!” 6:30

They will say, “Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment.” 37:20

“This is the Day of Separation, which you used to deny.” 37:21

It nearly bursts with fury. Every time a group is thrown in, its keepers will ask, “Did no warner come to you?” 67:8

They will say, “Yes, a warner did come, but we denied and said, ‘Allah has revealed nothing, you are only in great error.’” 67:9

They will cry out, “Our Lord, take us out, we’ll do good, not what we used to do!” But didn’t We give you long enough to take heed, and didn’t a warner come to you? 35:37

Punishment Shared
Until, when he comes to Us, he says, “If only there were a distance between me and you, as great as the east and west, what a miserable companion!” 43:38

But it will not benefit you today, for you were unjust, and together you will share the punishment. 43:39

Infighting
He will say, “Enter the Fire among nations before you, of jinn and humans.” Every time a new group enters, it curses the previous one. When all are gathered, the last will say of the first, “Our Lord, they led us astray, so give them double punishment.” He will say, “Each will have double, but you do not realize it.” 7:38

The first will say to the last, “You were no better than us, so taste the punishment for what you earned.” 7:39

“What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you help each other?” 37:25

Instead, on that Day, they will surrender. 37:26

They will turn to one another, accusing each other. 37:27

They will say, “You used to come at us from the right.” 37:28

The others will reply, “You yourselves were not believers. 37:29

We had no power over you; you were a rebellious people. 37:30

We led you astray, for we ourselves were astray.” 37:32

When they argue in the Fire, the weak will say to the arrogant, "We followed you, can you relieve us from any part of the Fire?" 40:47

They will cry, "Why do we not see those we counted among the wicked?" 38:62

"Did we mock them wrongly, or have our eyes failed to find them?" 38:63

On that Day, friends will become enemies to one another, except for the righteous. 43:67

Indeed, this is the truth, the wrangling of the people of the Fire. 38:64

No Regret
Do they not realize they will be resurrected, 83:4

On a tremendous Day, 83:5

We destroyed generations before you when they wronged themselves. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they refused to believe. This is how We repay the wicked. 10:13

But why did they not humble themselves when Our punishment came? Instead, their hearts hardened, and Satan made their deeds seem fair to them. 6:43

But no! What they concealed before has now been exposed. Even if they were sent back, they would return to their old ways, for they are truly liars. 6:28

They insisted, “There is nothing beyond this life; we will never be resurrected.” 6:29

Allah's Destruction
Generations Destroyed
Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them? We had granted them greater stability on earth, sent down abundant rain, and made rivers flow beneath them, yet We wiped them out for their sins and replaced them with new peoples. 6:6

How many generations We destroyed before them, who were mightier in strength? They searched the lands, was there any escape? 50:36

How many generations have We destroyed after Noah? 17:17

In that is a reminder for whoever has a heart, or listens attentively with presence of mind. 50:37

And by morning, a relentless punishment overtook them, 54:38

So, taste My punishment and warning! 54:39

When generations before me have already passed away?”, while they call to Allah for help: “Woe to you! Believe! 46:17

Those are the ones against whom the word has come into effect, along with communities before them of jinn and humans; they were truly losers. 46:18

Each will have ranks according to what they did, so He may fully repay them for their deeds, and none will be wronged. 46:19

Then, when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, “This is a cloud bringing us rain.” No, it is what you sought to hasten: a wind with painful punishment, 46:24

Destroying everything by the command of its Lord. By morning, nothing could be seen but their ruins. Thus do We repay the guilty people. 46:25

But how many generations before them did We destroy, who were greater in wealth and splendour? 19:74

How many generations before them have We destroyed? Do you perceive even a trace of them or hear from them a whisper? 19:98

How many generations before them did We destroy? They cried out, but escape was beyond reach. 38:3

Have they not reflected that We destroyed many generations before them who walked the earth? Surely in this are signs for those of understanding. 20:128

So be patient with what they say, and glorify your Lord with praise before sunrise and before sunset, and during the night, and at the edges of the day, so that you may be pleased. 20:130

Cities Destroyed
When We intend to destroy a town, We command its affluent ones, but they transgress, so the decree is justified, and We annihilate it completely. 17:16

How many towns were mightier than yours, which expelled you? We destroyed them, and they had no helper. 47:13

So, We destroyed those who were mightier than them, and the example of the ancients has passed. 43:8

Is one who stands upon clear proof from his Lord like one whose evil deeds are made to seem fair to him, and who follows his own desires? 47:14

How many towns have We destroyed while they were steeped in wrongdoing! Now they lie in ruins, with wells abandoned and palaces deserted. 22:45

How many towns did I give respite to while they were unjust? Then I seized them, and to Me is the final return. 22:48

How many communities rebelled against their Lord’s command and His messengers! 65:8

But no town before them believed when We sent signs, will they believe now? 21:6

“They spurned every sign We sent, so We struck them down with the relentless grip of the Almighty 54:42

This is how your Lord seizes cities when they persist in wrongdoing 11:102

Did the people of the towns feel secure that Our punishment would not come upon them by night while they slept? 7:97

We destroyed those towns when they wronged, and We set a fixed time for their destruction. 18:59

How many towns have We destroyed! Our punishment came upon them by night or while they rested at noon. 7:4

When Our punishment struck them, their only cry was, “We were indeed wrongdoers!” 7:5

Or did they feel secure that Our punishment would not strike them by day while they played? 7:98

Did they feel safe from Allah’s plan? None feels secure from Allah’s plan except those who are truly lost. 7:99

Surely the Day of Decision is their appointed time, all together. 44:40

We have destroyed towns around you, and We varied the signs so they might return. 46:27

There is no town We will not destroy before the Day of Judgment or punish severely. 17:58

How many towns have We destroyed for their wrongdoing, raising up others after them? 21:11

We never destroyed a town except that it had a known decree. 15:4

No nation can hasten its end, nor delay it. 15:5

We never destroyed a town without sending warners, 26:208

As a reminder, and We were never unjust. 26:209

It does not suit them, nor could they have done so. 26:211

They are barred from even listening. 26:212

That is because your Lord would not destroy towns unjustly while their people were unaware. 6:131

For all, there are degrees according to their deeds. Your Lord is not unaware of what they do. 6:132

Surely, in that are signs for those who discern. 15:76

How many generations before them have We destroyed? Do you perceive even a trace of them or hear from them a whisper? 19:98

The Blast
The blast seized those who had wronged, and they lay lifeless in their homes. 11:67, 11:94, 15:73, 15:83, 23:41

Harvested
When they sensed Our punishment, they fled. 21:12

“Do not run away! Return to your luxuries and homes, so you may be questioned.” 21:13, 37:24

They cried, “Woe to us! We were wrongdoers.” 21:14

Their cries continued until We made them lifeless, like harvested fields. 21:15

The Seizure
Allah seized them for their sins. Allah is severe in punishment. 3:11, 7:78, 7:91, 7:95, 7:96, 7:165, 8:52, 13:32, 22:44, 22:48, 23:41, 23:64, 26:156, 26:158, 26:189, 29:37, 29:40, 33:61, 34:51, 35:26, 36:49, 40:5, 40:21, 40:22, 41:17, 43:48, 51:44, 54:42, 55:41, 69:10, 73:16, 79:25

When they ignored Our warnings, We opened the gates of everything for them, until, suddenly, they were seized in despair. 6:44

Thus, the wrongdoers were uprooted. 6:45

This is how your Lord seizes cities when they persist in wrongdoing. 11:102

Previous Peoples
Say to the disbelievers: If they desist, their past will be forgiven. But if they persist, then the fate of those before them has already been sealed. 8:38

Those before them plotted, but Allah struck at their foundations, causing their roofs to collapse upon them. Punishment came upon them from where they never expected. 16:26

Like Pharaoh’s people and those before them, they rejected Allah’s signs, so He seized them for their sins. 8:52

This is because Allah never changes a blessing He grants a people unless they change what is within themselves. 8:53

Like Pharaoh’s people and those before them, they denied their Lord’s signs, so We destroyed them for their sins and drowned Pharaoh’s people. They were all wrongdoers. 8:54

Have they not travelled the land and seen the fate of those before them? They were greater in strength and left deeper marks on the earth, yet Allah seized them for their sins. 40:21

Angels
We have appointed only angels as guardians of the Fire, and made their number a trial for the disbelievers, so that the People of the Book may be certain, and the believers may grow in faith, and no doubt remains for the People of the Book or the believers. But those with sickness in their hearts and the disbelievers will say, “What does Allah mean by this example?” Thus, Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. None knows the armies of your Lord but He. This is only a reminder for humanity. 74:31

On the Day they see the angels, there will be no glad tidings for the guilty, and they will cry, “A barrier between us!” 25:22

We will summon the guardians. 96:18

“Gather the wrongdoers, their partners, and all they used to worship, 37:22

Besides Allah, and lead them to the path of Hell. 37:23

When angels take the souls of those who wronged themselves, they ask, “What was your condition?” They reply, “We were oppressed in the land.” The angels say, “Was Allah’s earth not vast enough for you to migrate?” 4:97

O My servants who believe, My earth is vast. 29:56, 39:10

Ransom
If the wrongdoers possessed all the treasures of the earth and twice as much, they would offer it to ransom themselves from the punishment on the Day of Judgment. But Allah will show them what they never expected. 10:54, 13:18, 39:47

No Escape
And those who fear the punishment of their Lord, 70:27

Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not to be taken lightly. 70:28

No indeed! We created them from what they know. 70:39

So leave them to plunge and play, until they meet their promised Day. 70:42

No New Creation
If you marvel, then marvel at their words: “Will we truly be resurrected after becoming dust?” These are the ones who reject their Lord 13:5
